Dr. Renee Silverman was awarded a National Endowment for the Humanities grant for her project “The Popular and the Traditional in Spanish Avant-Garde Poetry (1925-1936).” This award will allow Dr. Silverman to focus on her research project for a whole year during 2014-2015. Kranys Innovation Grant Awarded to Faculty Member!
Melissa Baralt and her colleague Ashley Darcy-Mahoney have been selected at the recipients of the Kranys Innovation Grant ($100,000). This research project, titled "Bilingualism and the relationship to Cognitive and Executive Development in Preterm Infants" will be carried out at FIU and at Baptist Children's Hospital. Bringing together neonatology and linguistics, Dr. Baralt and Dr. Darcy-Mahoney seek to explore whether bilingualism can be beneficial for children born premature.
