Modern Languages announces Fall Dynamic Term starting October 16

If you need to take one more course for the Fall 2017 semester or would like to complete your degree earlier by adding a course this semester, you may register for the Dynamic Term that runs from October 9th – December 2nd, 2017.

77652 | Chinese I CHI 1130 UHC | 1:00 pm – 3:45 PM WM (hybrid course) | Dr. Shenggao Wang

CHI 1130 is an introductory course for beginner students interested in Chinese language and culture. It is designed for students with no previous knowledge or skills of spoken Chinese and NOT for heritage learners. In this hybrid course, class time will mainly focus on learning the basic skills in listening, speaking and communicating in Mandarin Chinese. Online portion of the class will be used for students to memorize the vocabulary and key sentence patterns and do the dialogue drilling. Online video conferences will be conducted on a weekly basis to check students' pronunciation and provide feedback. Chinese culture knowledge will be infused throughout the course.

77656 | Spanish II SPN 1131 RVG | Online Course | Dr. Maria Aparicio

SPN 1131 is a second-semester introductory course in Spanish language. It is designed for students with basic knowledge of Spanish (Prerequisite: Spanish I or equivalent), and NOT for heritage learners. Emphasis on oral Spanish and on acquiring basic language skills.

77657 | Intermediate Spanish for Native Speakers SPN 2340 RVD | Online Course | Dr. Ricardo Castells

Improvement of spelling, grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, and oral skills for Hispanic bilinguals educated in the U.S., with less than two years of formal training in Spanish but whose mother tongue is Spanish. Prerequisite: Ability to understand Spanish.
