taught from 1963 to 2008, she served at various times as Associate Dean of Rutgers College, Department Chair and Graduate Director for the Department of Spanish & Portuguese, and Coordinator of Translator and Interpreter Training. She has published extensively on contemporary theatre and film, women writers of Spain, and translation studies. Among her books are Cross Cultural Approaches to Theatre: The Spanish-French Connection (1994), The Novels and Plays of Eduardo Manet: An Adventure in Multi-Culturalism (2000), and Theatrical Translation and Film Adaptation: A Practitioner's View (2005). She has served on the editorial boards of several journals in Spain and the United States and from 1998 to 2005 edited ESTRENO Plays, an on-going series of translations of contemporary Spanish plays. Among her own play translations from Spanish or French that have been published and performed are works by José Luis Alonso de Santos, Itziar Pascual, Paloma Pedrero, Jean-Paul Daumas and Eduardo Manet. She is a member of the American Translators Association, the American Literary Translators Association, and the Dramatists Guild.
