Dr. Renee Silverman has been awarded the Kimberly Green Faculty Fellowship to conduct archival research in Spain for book proposal. The fellowship assists in the advancement of knowledge, resources, and trained personnel for foreign language and area/international studies and supports the development of a qualified pool of international experts with global competence designed to meet U.S. national needs.

Coming in the Spring 2022: a hybrid course offered by the Department of Modern Languages on Tuesdays from 11am until 12:15pm. Taught by Instructor Jhonatan Baez, you will learn elements of Japanese society, identity, and patterns of thought throughout Japanese history. This course will explore this through the lens of tradition, modernization, internationalization, and cultural "cool!"

Congratulations to our PhD student Lydia Cerritos, recipient of the Tinker Graduate Student Field Research Travel Grant from the Latin American and Caribbean Center (LACC) to conduct pre-dissertation research at the University of Costa Rica in the Centro de Investigaciones Históricas de América Central and UCR libraries. LACC’s Tinker Grant Program funds graduate student travel to any Spanish or Portuguese- speaking country in Latin America and the Caribbean to conduct pre-dissertation research.
