Adjunct Professor, Mieko Avello wins prestigious RETI Award!

The Department of Modern Languages is pleased to announce that Mieko Avello is a recipient of the inaugural Rewarding Excellence in Teaching Incentives (RETI). The RETI award recognizes faculty who are working to create learning-centered, inclusive classroom experiences, provides faculty the opportunity to build their teaching excellence portfolio, and serves as a foundation for future awards.

With almost 70 nominees, the selection process was competitive, consisting of blind reviews by 3 reviewers per application.

Professor Avello also teaches Japanese and Art at Palmetto Middle School full-time. She was also elected as the vice president of AATJ (American Association of Techers of Japanese) this year!

Congratulations, Professor!
