Pi Delta Phi, established in 1906, is the French National Honor Society for undergraduate and graduate students at accredited public and private colleges and universities in the United States. The FIU Chapter was established in 1991. As per the Pi Delta Phi constitution, the purpose of this society is to recognize outstanding scholarship in the French language and its literature, to increase the knowledge and appreciation of Americans for the cultural contributions of the French-speaking world, and to stimulate and encourage French cultural activities. The motto of this society is: Probaínomen Diakritoi Philogálatoi, which means "Avançons, amis fidèles de la culture française".
