- This program is for BOTH FIU degree-seeking and non-degree students.
- Students must be fully bilingual in English and Spanish or another language to begin the program.

Established in 1980, our program offers Translation courses geared for Spanish - English bilingual students, while our interpreting courses are open to ALL languages. - The T&I Certificate Program will provide the theoretical basis, skills, techniques, and practical experience to prepare FIU students for the field of Translation & Interpretation.
- The Core Courses cover business practices, work opportunities, and ways of entering the profession, as well as the ethics, standards of practice, techniques, and methods of career development in the field.
- All courses provide extensive practice in all modes of translation and interpretation.
- The certificate program consists of 18 semester credit hours (6 courses).
- These same 18 credits may also count as electives for the B.A. Spanish major.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:

- Visit the Guest Applicants page for the Office of Admissions
- Complete the Non-degree Certificate Application
- Complete and submit the Non-Degree Seeking Application in its entirety, and then upload both the residency documents as required, and then the Non-Degree Certificate Application.
- Once admitted to FIU as a non-degree seeking student, register for classes using your MyFIU account.
- NOTE: Non-degree seeking students must wait until the week before classes begin to register for classes.
FINANCIAL INFORMATION:
*NOTE: Seniors 60+ Tuition Waiver is for Auditing courses only. Students auditing courses do not qualify for the T&I Certificate.

The Translation & Interpreting Certificate does not certify a student as a translator or interpreter. However, it does provide a solid foundation which will enhance the chances of obtaining the professional certifications listed below:
