FIU World Cup 2026

FIU Campus | Miami, Florida
Celebrating cultures through sport.

The FIU World Cup 2026 is a co-ed, multilingual soccer tournament that brings together students, faculty, and community members to celebrate linguistic and cultural diversity through sport.
Eight teams, each representing a different language community, will compete on the field while showcasing the global reach of languages taught at Florida International University.
Beyond the tournament, the FIU World Cup extends into Spring 2026 with a series of cultural and academic events, including:
Podcasts and digital storytelling
Film screenings and a mini film festival
Guest lectures and panel discussions
Cultural showcases and community conversations
Together, these events highlight the role of language, culture, and global citizenship in Miami and beyond.
Teams represent the following language communities:
French
Portuguese / Brazilian
Chinese
Korean
Spanish
Italian
Haitian (Haitian Creole)
Japanese
Each team reflects the cultural, linguistic, and transnational connections that define FIU and the city of Miami.
As Miami prepares to host FIFA World Cup matches in Summer 2026, FIU joins the global celebration with its own multilingual World Cup experience—centered on language, culture, and community engagement.
The FIU World Cup 2026 positions the university as a space where sport, multilingualism, and international education intersect.
