This Certificate in Korean Studies offers an 18-credit sequence of courses, intended to provide students with a rich learning experience in Korean Studies. This experience aims to deepen students' understanding of this increasingly important region of the world and enhance their career competitiveness upon graduation. The program provides a multidisciplinary approach focusing on Korean cultural studies while covering topics in language, history, geography, politics, religion, sociology/anthropology, and international relations. This certificate program is open to degree-seeking students only.
Students must take at least two semesters (6 credits) of Introductory-level (1000) or higher in Korean Language. If students test out of some portion of this requirement, they must complete additional credits in Korean and/or East Asia society and culture.

Study Abroad (Optional)
Students are encouraged to earn credits through a study abroad program (summer travel) or a student exchange program (one or two semesters of travel) with a university in Korea. Students may earn three to six credits for study abroad and up to fifteen credits for student exchange. Please inquire with the Director or with the Office of Education Abroad about international programs.
Note: No more than two courses (6 credits) from the Asian Studies BA degree or Minor can be counted towards the certificate.
