Bio
Dr. Lidya Cerritos is a scholar of Central American literature and Latinx cultural studies. Her research interests include gang aesthetics, archives, racial and ethnic formations, social media narratives, visual culture, and migration. She has published in leading academic journals, including Revista Iberoamericana and the Hispanic Journal.
At FIU and UCF, Dr. Cerritos has taught a wide range of language and literature courses, including Advanced Spanish for Heritage Speakers, Advanced Oral Communication, and Spanish for Business in Latin America. Her teaching emphasizes critical thinking, interdisciplinary analysis, and active student engagement.
During her postdoctoral fellowship at FIU, she developed and taught the graduate seminar Pandilleros Unveiled: Exploring Ink and Screen Representations, which examines identity and representation in Latin American, Latinx, and Hispanic cultures.
