Degree Requirements (30 credit hours)

  • FOL 3881 Languages and Technology OR LIN 3010 General Linguistics OR SPN 3733 Introduction to Spanish Linguistics
  • Language-Area-Focused Culture Course
  • Language-Area-Focused Language Structure Course

Major Required Courses (21 credit hours)

Lower Division Prerequisite: Must demonstrate proficiency by testing or completion of intermediate level Portuguese.

Upper Division Requirements: A minimum of 6 credit hours in the target language must be at the 4000 level.

Major Electives (3 credits)

  • Any POW, PRT, or POR course at the 3000 or 4000 level
  • Course relevant to the field of Lusophone studies, offered outside the Department, with permission of the Director of the Portuguese program.

A minimum of 6 credit hours in the target language must be at the 4000 level
