Who's a Heritage Language Learner?

Heritage language learners of Spanish have typically been raised in an environment where Spanish is spoken and as a consequence they can understand and/or speak the language and have a personal connection to it. Often Spanish heritage language learners grew up in Spanish-speaking households or communities, but received the majority of their formal education in the dominant language (for the US, English). The Spanish for Heritage Learners program at FIU offers classes at the intermediate and advanced levels.
