Celpe-Bras – Certificate of Proficiency in Portuguese

Celpe-Bras – The exam for the Certificate of Proficiency in Portuguese for – is the official Brazilian test for certifying proficiency in Portuguese as a world language. Celpe-Bras is accepted as proof of proficiency for those seeking admission to undergraduate and graduate programs in Portuguese-speaking communities, as well as for the validation of diplomas of foreign professionals intending to work in Brazil.

The exam has a written part, which integratively evaluates oral comprehension, visual comprehension, reading, and written production in Portuguese; and an oral part (face-to-face interaction), which evaluates performance in oral comprehension and production in the language. Proficiency is assessed based on the participant's performance in both parts. This includes practices of using the Portuguese language that may occur in the daily life of an individual intending to interact in Portuguese in Brazil.

This exam is administered in person only on the Modesto A. Maidique Campus in Miami, on the dates established by the Brazilian Ministry of Education.
